Full Fifteen is a totally new creation from the redoubtable winemaker Andrew McPherson. He is quite a phenomenon in the Australian wine industry and was first introduced to wine by his father Jock. Jock was quite a character himself having only set up a winery in the premium Hunter Valley in 1968 after trying his hand at being an radio announcer navigator airman publisher duck farmer fisherman and sawmill owner. However winemaking proved his forte and he stuck with it. Andrew learnt at his father's proverbial knee and by 1971 was responsible for planting 1000 hectares in the Hunter for a group of investors. He went on to become winemaker at the family cellar then sold up to gain more experience. He acted as consultant for wineries throughout Oz and New Zealand then refined his technological skills and introduced them to the burgeoning Australian wine industry. In 1993 Andrew bought a cellar in Nagambie and has been making outstanding wines there since. His brief for the Full Fifteen was to create a huge black spicy red that would be smooth and immensely drinkable. On its maiden vintage in 2003 it scooped three medals. This vintage is a mix of mainly Cabernet Sauvignon Ruby Cabernet with a drop of Syrah all deliciously ripe and improved by a touch of oak ageing.
