The latest vintage of this phenomenally brisk and vital Sauvignon Blanc from the Elqui Valley. This remarkable wine region is right next door to the Atacama desert in the north of Chile the last place on earth you'd expect to find an incredibly crisp refreshing Sauvignon Blanc. But that's what makes wine so fascinating it's full of surprises. It was two Italian cousins Giorgio Flessati and Aldo Olivier who first discovered it wasn't only fruit for eating but wine grapes too that could be produced in this totally outback area in the north of Chile. Not only did they grow but they had truly amazing intensity of flavour thanks to brilliant sunlight and clarity of light this is where you'll find some of the world's most important and largest telescopes and a huge fluctuation of temperature between day and night. There's also a cooling coastal breeze thanks to the Humboldt Current to alleviate some of the daytime heat too. Despite the award winning results since the first sample in 1999 there are only two cellars in the region. This one Via Falernia won 'Best Wine of Chile' for its Syrah in 2002 in 2004 the CarmenereSyrah was awarded 'Best Value Red of Chile' and in 2005 its Syrah was again given 'Best Syrah in Chile'. Not an under achiever. Chile WHITE Brand Availability YES Online price 7.99 Super-fresh aromatic Chilean Sauvignon Blanc from an award-winning estate.
