Alicante is the red fleshed variety most widely planted in Southern France and the result is a wine very dark in colour, with a rich nose of plummy fruit and dark chocolate which leads to a powerful rich palate of dark summer fruits. This unusual and delicious wine was listed in the 2008 39Top 100 Vins de Pays39 competition and is best served with red meats and strong cheese.
